Event Tag

The schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy, have provided us with inspiration, new ways of thinking about early childhood practices and environments, and thoughtful ways of seeing and listening to children. Indeed, these schools have even introduced us to a new vocabulary when describing our ways of thinking and working with children.

In these workshops we will uncover the history and foundations of the early years practices in Reggio Emilia, and the ways in which these inspirations may lead to innovation in our own early years settings.

Objectives

  • To develop an understanding of the foundations and philosophy of the schools of Reggio Emilia
  • To examine the basic principles that underpin the work in Reggio Schools
  • To understand the cultural influences of this approach
  • To re-examine our roles as educators
  • To uncover ways of using inspirations from Reggio Emilia, while honoring our own cultures and contexts
