A thought-provoking, interactive, and empathy-building
workshop for providers who work with students with special
needs, including learning disabilities, head injuries,
attention deficit disorder, and sensory integration disorders,
aspbergers, autism and nonverbal learning disabilities. For
the inclusive educational setting, this workshop is an
absolute MUST for teachers of today's students. Participants
leave this workshop with an understanding of what it feels
like to experience different disabilities, as well as a
formula for developing easy practical strategies for working

Kathryn Phillips is
an internationally recognized speaker and consultant with over
26 years of experience in education. Her experience includes
early childhood teaching and administration, as well as the
assessment and diagnosis of emotional and behavioral disorders
in young children.
She is
a published author, college professor, and mental health
consultant to preschool programs around the United States.
Her specialized experiences include, training at the United
States National Institute of Mental Health, The National
Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and The Northwest
Institute of Neuropsychology. She is a
professor for the Graduate School of Education for Lewis and
Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
Her
published work Project Color: An Arts Curriculum Guide for
Children with Emotional Disorders, has been recognized by the
John F. Kennedy Foundation for the Arts. She has also
published a counseling manual utilizing a logotherapy approach
entitled Fostering Resiliency in High Risk Children.
Kathryn has been providing
workshops on early childhood behavioral issues for over
sixteen years. Her expertise of the content area is
interwoven with story telling, dialogue, humor and practical
strategies for solving the behavioral issues that face
educators today. A skillful educator, Kathryn recognizes that
adult learners need a multi-modality approach to learning
with real life experiences, opportunities to practice, and
timely topics.
